Christy Spirit Volunteer Program
Christy Spirit Volunteers began as a project stemming from the celebration of the 100th annivesary of Leonora Whitaker Wood's arrival at the Ebenezer Mission in Morgan Gap in 1909. Christy Spirit Volunteer projects focus on finding worthwhile and creative ways for the Christy community to carry on the spirit of Christy by helping the children of the Del Rio community.
Del Rio Elementary (DRE) is a small school that serves kindergarten through eighth grade. There are less than 150 students total in the school. Resources, both within the school and PTA, as well as within the area, are very limited. Jan Dellinger, principal of DRE, and her staff work very hard to meet all the needs of the children.
